CAP D'AIL

Cap d'Ail is a French commune located in the Alpes-Maritimes department in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region, on the western edge of Monaco. Its inhabitants are called Cap-d'Aillois. The commune of Cap-d'Ail, until 1860, was attached to the Nice committee. It was in 1908 that Cap-d'Ail, which depended on Tourbie, became a commune in its own right. The town has natural beaches as well as a coastal path, bordered by typical Mediterranean vegetation. The steep terrain, characteristic of the Monaco watershed, causes the town to plunge from the vertical slopes of the Tête du Chien to the wild coves of the Mala beaches.
