GORGES DE VERDON
Dug out by the Verdon River, the eponymous gorges are located between Castellane and Lake Sainte-Croix. They mark the border between the Var and the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence. There are three parts in the gorges: The part called the “pre-gorges” which extends from Castellane to the place called Pont-de-Soleils The gorges which then continue to La Palud-sur-Verdon And the last gorge which joins the Galetas bridge to Moustiers-Sainte-Marie. Deep and narrow, the Verdon canyon varies between 6 and 100 meters wide with a depth of 250 to 700 meters.
